Reading

I recommend the short essay "A Girl As a Pyrotechnic Display" by LaDonna Witmer. It's a lot to live up to as a writer submitting an essay to the same magazine, but what the heck, I'm trying.

Watching

During the series finale of Hacks, when Deborah changed her mind about the big thing (no spoilers here), I said out loud, "Yes, diva!" Who has this show turned me into? I'm actually eager to start rewatching it soon.

I'm happy that The Four Seasons has returned for another season. I find it very fluffy, and a little contrived, but the characters/actors have a fun rapport with one another even as they act like children in their personal conflicts. It's a bit like Friends in that the characters seem to spend an unnatural amount of time together.

Oh, one more: In rewatching BoJack Horseman I found the brilliant, bottle-like episode "Fish Out of Water." Here's a clip.

Cooking

I defrosted some lamb merguez sausage from the farmers market and tried my best to cook it "low and slow" on the stovetop. Then I changed my mind about eating the casings and tried to slice and peel the casings off the cooked sausages, causing red-spiced juices to squirt all over the cutting board. This is one of the reasons I'm not typically a fan of sausage, but I really enjoy lamb. I paired the merguez sausage with sweet potato orzo and kale.

I don't know what the cultural reference is here, but Gordon Ramsay!

Doing

I did some light gardening this weekend, and otherwise behaved something like a lizard, basking in the warm weather outside with a book or phone in hand. I ate fast food and accomplished little.

Listening

My musical listening has taken no particular focus this week, so here's a classic from Angus & Julia Stone.
